Open Secrets Profile

Tim Baldermann is currently the Mayor of New Lenox (Will County) and the Chief of Police in Chicago Ridge. He has deep professional experience in three separate areas: law enforcement/homeland security, education and municipal government.

Tim and his wife, Megan, have five children. Megan is a school principal.

Law Enforcement/Homeland Security
Tim Baldermann has served for 20 years as a law enforcement officer and is a graduate of the F.B.I. National Training Academy. Serving as a police chief in a Chicago suburb has given him a deep understanding of homeland security needs on the ground as he has been involved in homeland security planning for a city close to Chicago, which is well-known to have been a terrorist target. This front-line, on the ground insight will be invaluable as national homeland security plans are further developed and implemented.

Education
In addition to Tim's wife serving as a school principal, Tim has earned state certification to serve as a school superintendent. He also served as president of the New Lenox School Board. Before Baldermann was elected to the school board, the New Lenox schools had four referendums on the ballot for a tax increase to support the schools and each of those referendums was defeated. Immediately after his election to the school board, Baldermann's colleagues voted to make him president of the school board. He stepped right up and led the board in cutting spending and developed a balanced budget without the need for a tax increase and the school district of 5,800 students has been operating well ever since.

Municipal Government
Before Tim Baldermann became Mayor of New Lenox, he served four years on the city council. As the mayor of one of the fastest growing areas of the state, he is acutely aware of transportation and infrastructure needs to provide for the needs of the population and businesses who wish to do their business here. County and municipal government officials will find a friend and informed advocate in Tim Baldermann serving as their next Congressman.

Campaign for Congress
Tim Baldermann indicated his intention to seek the Republican nomination for Congress in early October of 2007. Will County Republican Chairman Jack Partelow, LaSalle County Sheriff Tom Templeton, Princeton Mayor Keith Cain and Kankakee Mayor Don Green serve as co-chairs of the Baldermann campaign. Baldermann also has the endorsement of nearly all the Republican county chairmen of the District, numerous county officials, state legislators and fellow Republican Members of Congress from Illinois. His web site is: www.timbaldermannforcongress.com.

Life-Long Republican
Tim Baldermann is a life-long Republican and has served as a Republican Precinct Committeeman in New Lenox for the past five years. He is best described as a mainstream conservative Republican.
