Northwestern says "not so much" to Rev. Wright

You've really got to hand it to Northwestern University. They can sure pick their commencement speakers and honorees. First there was this story:
Talk show host Jerry Springer accepted an invitation to give the commencement address at Northwestern University School of Law, despite student-generated petitions and blogs claiming he is an unsuitable choice.

Today, NU has announced they are withdrawing a honorary degree offer to Rev. Jeremiah Wright:
Northwestern University has withdrawn its offer of an honorary degree to Rev. Jeremiah Wright after his controversial comments on race spawned a firestorm in the Democratic presidential nomination race and forced Sen. Barack Obama to disavow him. ...

... "In light of the controversy around Dr. Wright and to ensure that the celebratory character of Commencement not be affected, the University has withdrawn its invitation to Dr. Wright," Vice President of University Relations Alan Cubbage, said in the statement.

Perhaps Springer can now fill in for Rev. Wright at NU's commencement. I'm sure his real-life lessons - like how a relationship between neo-Nazi lesbians will inevitably end in one hooking-up with the other's brother, or why it's not such a good idea to pay for a prostitute with a check - will be invaluable to all NU graduates.

So now, instead of graduating to strains of "God d*** America", instead the processional can be soundtracked by chants of "Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!".
