Peraica wastes no time

After a strange election night, Democrat State's Attorney candidate Anita Alvarez is enjoying her upset victory.

Her Republican opponent, Cook County Commissioner Tony Peraica, already has his campaign in full swing. So far today, Peraica has released an "internal campaign memorandum" highlighting the contrasts between Peraica and Alvarez the campaign plans to highlight in the coming months. And, they're already hitting her on dodging a joint appearance with Peraica on WTTW's Chicago Tonight.

Tony Peraica will have an even bigger mountain to climb in this race than he did in 2006 taking on Todd Stroger. Much of the vote in that race was a factor of the circumstances in Todd Stroger's rise to the Democrat nomination.

The Chicago Tribune gives a kind overview of Peraica's upcoming challenge, and also lets everyone know the legacy tag that will forever be attached to any story on Tony Peraica:
... He later lost a spirited campaign against Todd Stroger for County Board president in a race that ended with Peraica's now-legendary storming of the county clerk's office on Election Night. ...

An even more ominous sign for Peraica: In a six-way race, Anita Alvarez's 26% of the vote pulled 103,084 more votes than did Peraica - 136,752 in total* - running uncontested in the GOP primary.

Better keep those internal memos coming.
