Campaign Contributions: ISBE Disclosure Reports
Since his appointment to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1997, Dan Reitz has worked hard in Springfield for area residents, fighting for his region's fair share of state dollars. He represents the 116th District, which is comprised of the western half of Perry County, all of Randolph and Monroe County and the southern/southwestern portion of St. Clair County.
In the Legislature, Reitz continues to lead the fight for education funding reform and economic development. At home, he remains active in the community and dedicates his time to assist numerous economic development committees and community organizations.
Reitz currently serves as Co-Chairman for the Illinois Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus and is a member of the Downstate Caucus.
Reitz graduated from Steeleville High School in 1972 and was an underground coal miner for seventeen years. As Illinois Legislative Director for the United Mine Workers, he fought to protect the jobs of thousands of coal miners in Southern Illinois. Reitz also served on the Randolph County Board of Commissioners from 1986 to1994, and twice served as Chairman of the Board from 1989 to 1990 and again from 1993 to 1994.
Reitz resides in Steeleville with his wife, Joyce. They have three children: Nathan, Nicholas and Natalie and two grandchildren, Callen and Evan.
