As a Majority Floor Leader, Jay continues his battle for the working families of Illinois. As a member of the House Labor Committee, Hoffman is in constant contact with labor officials throughout the state. He fights to ensure all working men and women receive a fair wage for a day's work and that workers' rights are protected under Illinois law.

In addition to bringing more economic growth and job creation to the Metro East, Rep. Hoffman is working with members from both sides of the aisle to provide improved educational opportunities to the children of Illinois. Hoffman was one of the first legislators to acknowledge the serious issue of violence in schools by sponsoring legislation to keep our children safe in Illinois classrooms. Hoffman is also continuing his fight to improve the current education funding formula by supporting legislation that dedicates 51% of all new revenue exclusively for education.

As Chairman of the Transportation and Motor Vehicles Committee, one of Hoffman's top priorities is infrastructure improvement. He has successfully secured funding to expand Illinois Routes 64, 157, 159 and 255, and is a leader in the fight for the expansion of the Metro-Link. Hoffman is also working to move repairs forward on the McKinley Bridge and construction of a new bridge across the Mississippi River.

Hoffman continues to be a strong advocate for senior citizen prescription drug relief by co-sponsoring legislation that would allow all seniors to form a buying group to purchase prescription medication at discounts of upto 51%.
