Campaign Contributions: ISBE Disclosure Reports
Greg Tuite has been a practicing attorney in Rockford, Illinois for over 25 years. His practice is concentrated on representing people with injuries or disabilities. He has also served as a Trustee for Rockford Township since he was elected in 2001. He was elected for a second term in 2005.
Born in Rockford, Greg is the son of Attorney Gerald Tuite and Elan Van Ness. Greg was raised in New England and received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Colorado. He returned to Illinois in 1978 to attend law school. He attended Chicago-Kent College of Law where, in addition to his studies, he worked in the legal clinic. He graduated with honors in 1980 and began practicing in Rockford in August of that year. He has been recognized as a "Leading Lawyer" by the Leading Lawyers Network since January 2003. He was also named an Illinois "Super Lawyer" by Law & Politics Magazine in 2006 and 2007.
Greg Tuite believes that good government consists of people who are willing to work together for the benefit of the people. He believes that too much time is wasted in partisan battles instead of working together to find solutions to the issues facing our communities.
Tuite believes that elected officials should be available to listen to the concerns of the residents of the district. Greg has spent the last 25 years listening to the day-to-day challenges that face his clients. He has spent his career working to find ways to resolve those problems. He will take the skills and experience of 25 years of his law practice to the office of state representative.
Greg won't disappear after he is elected. He will hold regular town meetings throughout the three counties that make up the 69th District so he can bring the citizens' concerns to Springfield. Greg Tuite wants to prevent the district from being left behind other communities in the state and nation. The district is facing the impact of changes caused by the expansion of the global economy as well as growth in the region around us. The 69th district needs strong leadership as it competes for jobs, not only with the surrounding communities, but with other states and foreign countries.
Greg knows that most important fight is for our fair share of education funding. The key to economic growth is to provide our children with an education that prepares them to compete in a rapidly changing workplace. Our schools are overcrowded and our teachers lack the resources they need to provide a quality education. In addition to fighting for fair funding for schools in the 69th District, he will insist that the legislature deal with the issue of school funding and demand relief for property taxpayers, especially for our senior citizens. Tuite is committed to fighting so that a fair share of funding goes to the 69th district instead of Chicago and its suburbs.
Tuite also believes in tougher ethics laws and election reform. Greg believes it is time to end the "pay to play" style of governing. This can only be done with serious campaign finance reform.
Greg has been active in various civic activities including The Literacy Council, Patriots Gateway Center, the Winnebago County Crime and Public Safety Commission, Boylan High School Mock Trial Team, and various youth sports teams.
Greg and his wife, Mary, have three children, Stephen, Jennifer and Catherine. They live in Rockford and are members of St. James Parish.
Greg's civic involvement includes:
Board Member, Patriot's Gateway Center Board member, The Literacy Council Advisory Board Member, Ethnic Heritage Museum Former Commissioner, Winnebago County Crime & Public Safety Commission Member, Belvidere Chamber of Commerce Member, Rockford Regional Chamber of Commerce Member, Winnebago County Bar Association Member, River District Association Member, Illinois State Bar Association Member, American Bar Association Member, Winnebago County Farm Bureau
