Now, more than ever, Cook County voters need and deserve a State's Attorney who will put experience and integrity first and politics last. We need a top prosecutor who will reach out to all communities and establish an environment of inclusion, whereby all of our citizens receive equal treatment and services.
In an effort to bring the State's Attorney's Office in closer contact with the communities and the residents that it serves, I would work to bring back the concept of community prosecution and place state's attorney's in community offices to work closer with citizens, parents, teachers, clergy and beat officers. Under my leadership, the State's Attorney's Office would pursue partnerships with county commissioners, police, churches, schools and businesses to help identify office locations.
I take great interest in the subject of domestic violence and if elected State's Attorney I will renew the fight against domestic violence by working to improve the services that the state's attorney's office provides to victims. I would implement specialized training for 911 operators responding to calls of domestic violence and become a public spokeswoman about the problem of domestic violence and forge partnerships with community-based advocacy groups.
In addition, I would work to reorganize the Sex Crimes Unit within the State's Attorney's Office to expand its functions and place an enhanced focus on internet predators and mass molestation cases. I would also increase efforts to train medical professionals in dealing with victims of sexual assault. In addition, I plan to create an Identity Theft Unit within the Special Prosecutions Bureau to provide additional resources, attention and prevention efforts directed at a troubling crime that is growing each and every day in our society.
